I woke up yesterday craving hot cross buns. After some research I settled on this recipe from Vegan Dad blog. It did deliver the most delicious hot cross buns I have ever had. They are so good I have another batch in the oven as I type this. The house smells wonderful!
Don’t be put off by the long list of ingredients, the majority of it are spices. Also as with any recipes containing yeast these scrumptious buns do require a bit of warmth and time but are so worth the effort.
I did not have the sourdough starter so I followed the recipe with extra soy milk as per the instructions. I also did not bother with the glaze nor the icing, instead I sprinkled them with some Demerara sugar before baking. Now, excuse me, the buns are ready 🙂
